How you can pay for your car

For deposits MJA accept:

  • Personal UK Debit Cards & Business UK Debit Cards up to a maximum of £500 without charge. All amounts over £500 will incur a 0.2% surcharge and a 31p transaction fee. Foreign Debit Cards are not accepted.
  • Cheques made payable to MJA plc – please allow 6 working days to clear
  • Credit Cards with a total limit of £250 per sale
  • Cash with a maximum of £2,000 per sale

When paying in full, or the balance, MJA accept the following methods of payment (please note that credit cards are not accepted).

  • Electronic Transfer, by far the easiest and safest method. Please note your money must be in our bank 24 hours before collection. Please arrange to transfer the money to:

    Account Number: 60597988
    A reference number should be quoted, for example your surname, your company name or the Registration Number of the car you are purchasing.
  • Personal UK Debit Cards and Business UK Visa Debit Cards are accepted. Cardholder must be present to make the payment. All amounts will incur a 0.2% surcharge and a 31p transaction fee. Foreign Debit Cards are not accepted.
  • Personal Cheques, Bankers Drafts or Building Society Cheques must be made payable to MJA plc but they are not acceptable at the time of collection. All these take a minimum of 6 working days to clear and collection will be delayed until the funds are cleared and in our account.
  • Cash with a maximum of £2,000 per sale

When you are financing your car (Hire Purchase or Personal Contract Purchase) you will need to produce:

  • Valid Driving licence bearing your current address (we only need the Card Part of the new style Photo Licences)
  • Two recent utility bills dated within the last 90 Days
  • Valid Passport or Bank/Credit Card.

Please note if you are using a third party finance company you must instruct them to have their funds in our bank 24 hours before collection or collection will be delayed to the following day.

If you are part exchanging a car you need to bring:

  • V5 / Registration Document
  • M.O.T
  • Service history
  • Spare Keys

Why is there a debit/credit card charge?

The debit and credit card surcharge is in place to reflect the new transaction fee policies introduced by Visa and Mastercard in 2016. This change increased costs to businesses for accepting payments made by credit and debit cards as it removed the 50p cap on transaction fees.
